The Boston University Section of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology is seeking a postdoctoral candidate for its T32 Training Program in Cardiovascular Epidemiology awarded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Scholars will focus their training on the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease such as coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure, and other forms of vascular disease, following one of the training pathways: statistical genetics and genomics, computational biology and bioinformatics, or clinical epidemiology. The successful candidate will participate in training activities including pathway-specific coursework and workshops, as well as individual professional development workshops, one-on-one professional counseling and career planning, grant writing workshops, research seminars, journal internships, and working on research projects with a Boston University senior investigator on longitudinal epidemiological studies such as the Framingham Heart Study, Long Life Family Study, Risk Underlying Rural Longitudinal study, and other cohort studies. All trainees will be supervised by their assigned faculty mentor as well as by the program’s co-directors for progress evaluation.

Earliest Training Program Start Date: Rolling Admission

Required Qualifications:

1)    US Citizen or green card holder

2)    Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics/Genomics or related field or M.D. degree

3)    Programming skills (SAS and/or R) preferred

This position is a postdoctoral training opportunity which provides a bi-monthly stipend.  The successful individual will be engaged in a 2-year period of mentored advanced training and professional development following completion of a doctoral degree program.
